Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

PROCEDURE:
Breast Lift

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR THIS PROCEDURE:

  • Volume loss and drooping of the breasts
  • For volume and shape enhancement to recreate a more youthful looking breast

DESCRIPTION:

During ageing the breasts begin to lose volume and the supporting ligaments begin to stretch with the effect of gravity.  This is especially true for patients who are post-partum (after child birth and breast-feeding).

In a breast lift procedure the breast tissue is rearranged to lift the position of the nipple and remove excess skin.  This allows a reshaping of the breast with a more youthful and fuller appearance.

Incisions result in a lollipop or anchor-type scar.  In certain cases this procedure can be combined with a silicone implant for a larger volume enhancement.

A supportive bra is worn for at least 6 weeks post operatively.

After the surgery patients will follow with an advanced scar management programme.

Dr Liakos is extensively involved in breast reconstruction and has extensive knowledge of the breast anatomy required to achieve consistent and excellent long-term results.

DURATION:

2 – 3 hours

ASSOCIATED PROCEDURES:

Augmentation/mastopexy

As part of a mommy makeover (breast surgery, abdominoplasty)

POST-OPERATIVE RECOVERY:

  • Drains are removed the next day.
  • Numbness and bruising may be experienced post-operatively.
  • Patients may return to work after 2 weeks.
  • No driving for at least 2 weeks, no exercise for at least 4-6 weeks.
