BT is a toxin derived from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. It is a potent neurotoxin, which causes muscle paralysis.
It is commercially available as BOTOX and DYSPORT.
BT is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed worldwide.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR THIS PROCEDURE:
BT is used as part of a facial rejuvenation program to reduce the appearance of wrinkles of the face and therefore improve the signs of ageing.
Treatment of wrinkles that begin to form:
- Glabellar area
- Bunny lines around the nose
- Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
HOW DOES IT WORK?
BT works as a neurotoxin. It paralyzes the underlying muscles, which are responsible for the formation of the overlying wrinkles in the skin.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
BT results may last for up to 6 months, although repeat sessions are advised every 3-4 months.
My philosophy with the use of BT is to AVOID the frozen look. I personally believe that movement of the forehead should not be eliminated and experienced in achieving an effective yet natural look.
